Spice is so subjective. One person’s 3 is another’s 1 and still another’s “too hot to handle.” I’m fond of using words, but recognize we need a shorthand for easily communicating how spicy a book may be.
I can’t speak for everyone, but here’s a good description of what you’ll see in my books…
Most of my work falls into what I consider medium-high heat.
What does that mean?
You will find explicit language and graphic sex where almost anything goes—my characters are uninhibited and highly sexual, but the driving force is still emotional intimacy.
I’ve got one or two slower burns that take time to build up steam, but once that first kiss happens, fasten your seatbelts. And yeah, there’s at least one that comes out like a raging inferno. Most fall somewhere in the middle.
My books may contain light kink/BDSM activities or soft D/s dynamics and sex that goes a little outside the box. Again, one person’s “mild” is another’s “holy hell that’s a lot.” And, all the current works include enthusiastic consent. Always.
Content Advisories
The two series from Totally Bound (Bristol Park and Logan County Love) do not contain on-page content advisories, but all of my other books do feature a basic on-page note that includes a link to my current titles page which includes content advisories for each book.
Readers who need the heads up can easily find the relevant details, while those who don’t want to see it can simply not click. Doing it this way also helps avoid issues faced by authors on some sites where flagging for certain content can open up a giant can of worms.
